Schools and Skills in RAK
Educational opportunities in the Ras Al Khaimah have blossomed since the establishment of the UAE, when only a tiny minority of the population had access to formal education. As the emirate continues to witness strong economic growth, the Government of Ras Al Khaimah has made the development of its education sector one of its top priorities. This is reflected in the growing number of educational establishments in the emirate.
Within the last 5 years, the number of viable university/college options for students living in Ras Al Khaimah has markedly increased, this is in part due to the establishment of free zones, which enable branches of foreign universities to set up without licences from the Ministry of Higher Education. In the future the government has plans to group the educational institutions currently in the free zone into a separate education park that can accommodate the campuses of the existing institutions as well as any new ones.
As in the rest of the UAE, there is a strong focus on computer literacy and on English language teaching to equip young UAE nationals living in RAK with the necessary skills to succeed in the workplace.
