RAK to London: Business Opportunities Abound

The scenic, coastal town of Ras Al Khaimah, in the northern tip of the UAE, is an ideal place in the Gulf region to move in, establish a business and live with your family – was the clear message of Michelle Durnford, Founding Partner of BAE Automation FZE, a company registered and licensed with the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ).

“I was thrilled to find that Ras Al Khaimah is not only an ideal business hub but it is also very family-friendly. The quick and easy process of getting our business registered under RAK FTZ made the deal even sweeter,” Durnford added.

The testimonial was one of the highlights of the successful ME Partnering Event held at the House of Bury, London in March 2011. Organized by the RAK FTZ in cooperation with The Middle East Association in the UK and supported by RAK Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the event saw numerous prominent personalities from different economic and business sectors – mainly large consulting firms and economic publication houses – in attendance.

Ahmed Ali Suwaid, Deputy Director of Marketing, RAK FTZ and Imad Eddine Oubiri, Business Development Executive, RAK Chamber of Commerce & Industry, also elaborated on the vast business and investment opportunities available in the emirate. They also shared exhaustive and accurate economic data, and comprehensive information on Ras Al Khaimah’s economic boom.

The audience showed great interest in the topics covered and expressed their satisfaction over incentives and advantages offered by the UAE in general and Ras Al Khaimah in particular.

“I think the whole event highlighted very well the huge opportunity available in the emirate, as well as the significant progress made to date. As you know we at OBG are very keen to ensure we are able to provide the fullest and most accurate picture possible for our readers so events like this are always useful,” shared Oliver Cornock, Regional Editor of Oxford Business Group.

“The UAE is the gateway to the Gulf region and Asia. Opening a branch or moving your headquarters here is one of the most intelligent and strategic decisions businesses can make,” shares Ossama El Omari, RAK FTZ CEO. He adds, “And we want to share this news to people all over the world. Now is the time to expand your operations internationally and the UAE, specifically Ras Al Khaimah, is the key.”

The ME Partnering Event is the second time RAK FTZ has organized a similar event, with the first seminar held in 2009. With the success of this recent effort, RAK FTZ plans to consolidate its efforts to promote Ras Al Khaimah together with the RAK Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and are currently looking into the possibility of organizing and participating in a number of prominent international business events in 2011.
