DED IT and RAK FTZ Team exchange ideas

An efficient IT infrastructure, providing a seamless flow of information through all departments, is one of Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone’s (RAK FTZ) strategies to ensure total customer service satisfaction.

RAK FTZ is supported by its IT-designed System Application Products (SAP), which connect the various sections and departments of RAK FTZ on a single database that performs various system tasks, providing a hassle-free client experience and operational efficiency for the free zone. Supported by Cisco Systems, RAK FTZ’s outstanding telecommunications infrastructure has been designed to give the zone’s clients the best and most convenient business environment.

Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Economic Development (DED) has recognized the important role played by RAK FTZ’s IT Department in the success of the zone’s operations.  Prompted by RAKFTZ’s achievements in this area, Majd Razouk, IT Manager and Ashraf Al Hayali, IT Technician from the Economic Department visited the zone to exchange ideas with RAK FTZ’s Information Technology team concerning best practices and technical expertise.  Officers of RAK Economic Department got an in-depth look at how RAKFTZ is creating a strategic road map to fulfill customer satisfaction through the implementation of a number of technical procedures which can be also put to use by the Economic Department.

Jerry Williams, Director of RAK Free Zone’s IT Department briefed Mr Razouk and Mr Al Hayali on the IT operations overall as well as on the latest improvements in RAK FTZ’s IT infrastructure and services, while Abdulrahman Mughal, Technical Support Manager, RAK FTZ, led a discussion on technical support operations. An overview of the Free Zone’s Core Network and Security Infrastructure was also given by Krikor Tengerian, RAK FTZ IT Infrastructure Manager, and Zainab Abbas, RAK FTZ IS Manager, gave a briefing on SAP operations.

Abdul Rahman Al Suwaidi, Director General, Department of Economic Development, thanked RAKFTZ for sharing its expertise with his team. “The visit was made in the context of exchanging experiences and information to attract investment to RAK and provide quality customer service,” he said, and went on to express his appreciation for the management of the RAK Free Trade Zone.

Oussama El Omari, CEO and Director General of RAK FTZ expressed his pride in the achievements of RAK FTZ IT Department.  “The IT department has been constantly updating the technical infrastructure of RAK FTZ.  Since the SAP system integration, 90% of the back system administrative function is online.  This has helped to reduce administrative work by almost 50% annually and has increased our production value.  RAK FTZ is considered one of the fastest growing free zones in the region because we constantly keep enhancing our technical and service capabilities to meet rapidly changing market demands and the individual requirements of our clients.”

Not content to rest on its laurels as the most customer friendly free zone in the Emirates and the region, RAK Free Zone is continuously expanding its horizon and blazing a trail with its IT organization, infrastructure and strategic vision, which work together to make the free zone’s operations seamless and efficient, thereby enhancing the stature and reputation of the free zone as well as contributing to a positive perception of the entire Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
